Day 2. Barcelona
Meet and assist on your arrival. Transfer to your hotel.Overnight in Barcelona.
Day 3. Barcelona
City sightseeing. View the Columbus Monument in honor of the renowned explorer and discoverer of America. Visit Plaza de Cataluna especislly known for it's fountains and statues.Visit The Sagrada Familia one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona; referred to as “cathedral” because of its huge size without having a bishop’s seat. The construction on this church will continue for at least another decade, but it has already become Barcelona's most important landmark. Overnight in Barcelona.
Day 4. Barcelona-Lourdes
After breakfast, we leave Spain territory crossing the Pyrenees Mountains till France where we reach Lourdes. The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes is a destination for mass of pilgrimage from all parts of the world. The Grotto of Massabielle is the most sacred site at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. This is the site of apparitions and the source of the shrine's healing waters. Option: Join the Torchlight Marian Procession this evening at 9:00 pm near the Grotto. Be ready to carry a lighted candle in your hand as a reminder of Baptism. After the procession, pilgrims are invited to attend the 11:00 pm Mass in the Grotto.
Day 5. Lourdes
Visit The way of the Cross on the hillside weaves along a steep wooded area.A guided walk tour to visit St Bernadette’s house and the “Chachot” where the family Soubirous was forced to stay for a couple of years. Option: The Eucharistic Adoration daily takes place in the Sanctuary of Lourdesat different hours and places depending on the year. On Thursday 25th February 1858, the Virgin mary asked Bernadette "Go drink at the spring and washyourself there." Each year 350,00 pilgrims do so in the baths of the sanctuary. Immerse yourself in one of the Grotto’s pools.
Day 6. Lourdes-Zaragoza
Drive to Zaragoza the fifth largest Spanish city. Visit the Plaza del Pillar Square where you willfind three of the city's emblamatic buildings: The Pillar Basilica, Lonja Palace, and San Salvador Cathedral (the "Seo"). Visit the most classical style garden Parque Grande or Great Park with wide landscaped avenues adorned with monuments or spaces like the Botanical garden.
Day 7. Zaragoza
Overlooking the Ebro River in the city center is baroque NuestraSenora del Pillar Basilica, a famous pilgrimage site, a shrine to the Virgin Mary and multiple domes. According to local legend in 40 AD, the Virgin Mary appeared to the apostle Saint James, The Great, standing on a pillar. She gave him a small statue of herself and instructed him to build a church called Our Lady of the Pillar. This would make it the first church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Mass at 5/6/7/8 hour at the main altar of the Basilica.
Day 8. Zaragoza-Madrid
after breakfas, continue to Madrid. Sightseeing tour to the 2,800-room Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, and bullfight arena. Lots of finest shops. Visit to the Prado Museum 1700-1900.
Day 9. Madrid-Avila-Fatima
Continue to the walled town of Avila, where St. Teresa founded the Order of Carmelites, for a guided tour. Visit the Romanesque and gothiccathedral: The convent of Santa Teresa and Monastery of La Encarnacion- two important pilgrimage stops. Continue to Fatima and visit one of the most famous Marian shrines in the world where three sheperd children reported the famed marian apparitions Free to join other pilgrims in the candlelight processionat 21:30 pm. Overnight in Fatima.
Day 10. Fatima
After breakfast we begin witha guided tour to the Hamlet of Aljustrel, the home of the three sheperd children; and Valinhos, the site of our Lady's August 1917 apparition. Option to join and participate in the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacre. The rest of the day is free for personal time and reflection. Mass at 15;30. Rosary @ 18:30. Rosary and Candlelight Procession at 21:30.
Day 11. Fatima-Santiago
After breakfast we travel to Santiago de Compostela, commonly known as Santiago. Follow the pilgrim ways to the shrine of the apostle St James, the great in the Cathedral where tradition has it that the remains of the Saint are buried.
Day 12. Santiago de Compostela
Free day for spiritual reflection. Mass at 12:00 noon and 7:30 pm main altar Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Day 13. Santiago-Porto
Today we travel to the second largest city in Portugal and one of the major urban areas of the Iberian Peninsula. Porto is one of the oldest European centres and its historical core was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996.
Day 14. Porto.
Your city guided tour will visit the ancient Ribeira district known for its narrow cobbled streets and numerous family owned restaurants and cafes to the grand plazas of the Avenida dos Aliados. Port cellar and port tasting tours is an informative tours of the vast cellars that will provide an insight into the traditional brewing process and a chance to sample some of the finest Port vintages – which remain as Porto’s most famous export. Visit the Douro River, which is the scenic backdrop to Porto and is crossed by magnificent bridges and the route for relaxing boat tours. Dinner with wine.
Day 15. Porto
Depart for USA.
